Ann T.K. Aki, 90, of Hilo died April 2 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Japan, she was a homemaker, member of Kamana Senior Center patchwork quilting and ukulele classes and former member of Lower Kawailani Kumiai. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at Ballard Family Mortuary. Service at 10:30 a.m. Burial noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Memorial donations to Alzheimer’s Association, Aloha Chapter. Romualdo “Rolly” Cabay Bermudez, 64, of Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, formerly of Keaau, died April 27 at home. He was born in Brgy. Pen-ned Santa Maria, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Kelly Won Leong, 58, of Hilo died April 6 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born on Oahu, he was a project specialist for the University of Hawaii at Hilo Division of Student Affairs, was UH-Hilo’s first full-time sports information director for more than 25 years, an official with Hawaii Island Sports Officials Association, and coached the Waiakea Pirates Gummy Bears softball team and Hilo High School dive team. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at UH-Hilo Vulcan Gymnasium. Celebration of life service at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Ethyn Leong and Jye Leong of New York City; father, Norman Won (stepmother Juanita) of Honolulu; brothers, Eric Won of Minneapolis and Russell Won of St. Louis; co-parent of Ethyn and Jye Leong, Alyson Kakugawa-Leong of Hilo; uncles, aunts, nieces and cousins. Gilbert Hinano Whitney, 77, of Virginia Beach, Va., died April 7 in Virginia Beach. Born in Keaukaha, he was a retired U.S. Navy veteran, retired postmaster for the Virginia Beach Post Office, member of and volunteer at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach and avid fisherman. Survived by wife, Mary (Fisher) Whitney; daughter, Candice Noelani Whitney; brothers, Lemona (Billie Jeane) Whitney of Waikoloa and Delbert (Lillian) Whitney Sr. of Keaukaha; sister, Nani Whitney (Camacho) of Keaukaha; a granddaughter; nieces, nephews and cousins.
