Multitalented kumu hula, singer, songwriter and world-class entertainer Robert Cazimero continues his annual tradition of performing at Kahilu Theatre with an event scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11.

This year marks his 34th appearance of offering Hawaii Island residents and visitors a memorable evening of music, dance and talk story to honor and celebrate May Day.

A true master and distinguished ambassador of Hawaiian culture, Cazimero has performed traditional and contemporary music and dance throughout his life, with his family and friends and as a solo artist. He has traveled the world, blending his cultural knowledge and experience with his impeccable artistic talents on stages from Japan to Moscow and in venues from Carnegie Hall to the Waikiki Shell.

In between music and dance numbers, Cazimero often shares heartfelt memories of his family roots and his numerous connections to the Big Island. His charismatic stage presence evokes a full spectrum of emotions for audience members, many who have attended his Kahilu concerts for decades beginning with the theatre’s opening season in 1981.

“Always relevant, always unique, a Cazimero concert includes many surprises, including special guests from near and far who join him on stage,” said Kahilu Theatre Executive Director Deb Goodwin. “We are so grateful Robert returns year after year to remind us of what it means to live aloha.”

For the current season, Cazimero’s performance at the Kahilu Theatre is sponsored by Kate Bell and Tom Blackburn, Ka‘alele and the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Tickets are $68/$48/$25 and can be purchased at kahilutheatre.org, by calling 885-6868 or by stopping in at the Kahilu Theatre box office at 67-1186 Lindsey Road in Waimea.
