The Small Business Development Center, East Hawaii, in partnership with the Small Business Administration and several lending institutions, is offering a “Financing for Your Business” workshop from 9-11 a.m. April 18 at the Hawaii Innovation Center.

The workshop will provide an overview of the process of putting together a business plan or a business loan package, types of loans available and the five C’s of credit.

Finding funding is critical to many small businesses, yet some owners do not understand how to determine what they qualify for, what money is available to them and the roadblocks they might face obtaining financing. This workshop was created to address these issues, as well as inform business owners about what is expected of them in obtaining capital.

During the workshop, participants will focus on financing options available to small businesses, what lenders look for, matching the right financing program to their needs and how to prepare for a meeting with a lender.

Potential funding requests can be presented to the panelists and questions fielded from attendees in order to learn more about how to successfully obtain funding for a business.

This is an opportunity to interact with local experts in an informal setting and learn more about funding programs available.

The Hawaii SBDC Hilo business advisers help eastside small businesses start, grow and thrive through no-cost business advising, training classes and business research.

The Hawaii Innovation Center is located at 117 Keawe St. in downtown Hilo.
