Caroline Cortez Blakley, 70, of Hilo died Feb. 25 at Hawaii Care Choices’ Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker. Visitation from 9-10 a.m. Saturday (March 30) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life at 10 a.m. Survived by sons, Joseph (Tashanna L.K.) Cortez of Hilo and Frank (Lisa) Rios Jr. of Pahoa; daughters, Elesia (Michael) Medeiros of Mountain View and Andrea (Noah Serrano) Cortez of Pahoa; siblings, Evelyn (Patrick) Nobriga, Benjamin Cortez Jr., Susan Gattis and Sandra (Johnito) Santos; caregivers, Terrilyn Requelman and Shelly Vallespin; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Russell G. Kimura, 73, of Cogan Station, Pa., died March 2. Born in Hilo, he was a retired vice president and controller of Woodlands Bank, teacher, accountant and businessman. Memorial celebration 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Peter Herdic House restaurant, 407 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, Pa. Hiroshi Ota, 85, of Hilo died March 9 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired accountant for Automotive Supply Center, retired from Hawaii Army National Guard and U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and member of Big Island National Guard Retirees Association, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Kyodan and Hoyukai, Piihonua Community Association, East Hawaii Hiroshima Kenjin Kai and Japanese Community Association. Additionally, he was a former Film Club member. Visitation from 4-5 p.m. Saturday (March 30) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 5 p.m. Casual attire. Lucille “Lucy” Kawahineihanauikapiolani Kuualoha Pinto, 82, of Kailua-Kona died March 5 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired cook for Mauna Lani Bay Resort and Bungalows, seamstress, quilter and member of Kona Church of the Nazarene.
