John Adam Gouveia Jr., 78, of Hilo died Feb. 25 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired construction laborer and member of the Apostolic Faith Church. Visitation 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday (March 29) at Dodo Mortuary chapel. Funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Jeanette Gouveia of Hilo; sons, Frank “Bobo” (Tarsha) Gouveia of Mountain View and John Adam Gouveia of Waipahu, Oahu; daughters, Maxine Kuulei (Kerine) Cooks of Oahu and Catherine Gouveia of Hilo; sister, Margaret Gaspar of Waianae; sister-in-law, Desiree Poa of Keaau; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews. David Michael Ross, 78, of Kailua-Kona died March 3 at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a deacon at St. Michael’s Catholic Church and board president of West Hawaii Habitat for Humanity. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (March 30) at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona. Mass at 10 a.m. Reception to follow. No flowers. Memorial donations to Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Yoshiko Shimada, 95, of Hilo died Feb. 24 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired manager for the former Kaikoo Coin Laundry. Private services held. Survived by son, Elvin Shimada; two grandsons; nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
