John Kadlecik, the Jerry Garcia “clone” who tours with Grateful Dead founding members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh in Furthur, is playing his solo “Solo Acousti’Lectric” show Friday night (March 15) at Lava Shack in Pahoa and Saturday night (March 16) at Hilo Town Tavern.

Showtime both nights is at 9 p.m. Troll Garcia will open.

Kadlecik, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, was a founding member and lead guitarist for the Grateful Dead tribute band Dark Star Orchestra — called “DSO” by fans — which originally started in Chicago as a side-project house band for some of the best local deadhead musicians, but rapidly became a nationally touring band, attracting many guests to join them onstage. Guest musicians included John Fishman, Mike Gordon, Sam Bush, Jorma Kaukonen John Popper, Sanjay Mishra, Tom Constanten, Vince Welnick, Donna Jean Godchaux-Mackay, Bill Kreutzmann and Bob Weir, to name a few.

Kadlecik, whose known for his ability to channel his inner Garcia, like the late Grateful Dead icon, can play multiple styles including folk rock, jam band, bluegrass, country rock and jazz. He has more bows in his quiver than Dead covers, as evidenced by his latest CD, “On the Road,” which was released in November.

Admission for the Pahoa show is $20 advance or at the door; in Hilo, $22 advance and $25 at the door. Advance tickets are available on brownpapertickets.com.
