Haunani Leilani Ibarra, 39, of Ocean View died Feb. 18. Born in Hilo, she worked at Dollar Rent a Car in Kona, Ocean View Laundromat “The Wash” and Malama Market in Ocean View. Yoshiko Ikeda, 96, of Honalo died Jan. 29 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a clerk typist for Konawaena High School and member of Honalo No. 1 Kumi, Daifukuji Fujinkai, Zazen Kai, Baikako, Hiroshima Kenjin Kai and Daifukuji Soto Mission Kyodan. Survived by sons, Earl (Michelle) Ikeda of Arizona, Warren Ikeda and Greg Ikeda of Honalo; daughter, Lorna (Gene) Takaki of Mililani, Oahu; brothers, George Kurozawa of Captain Cook, Richard Kurozawa of Connecticut and Larry (Eleanor) Kurozawa of Denver; sister, Chieko Kitaoka of California; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Hazel Jane Maertens, 86, of Waimea died Feb. 26 at Salom Care Home in Hilo. Born in Haina, she was retired head housekeeper for the former Honokaa Hospital and member of Imiola Congregational Church and Waimea Senior Citizen’s Center. Funeral arrangements are pending. Survived by daughters, Betty J. (Earl) Spence of Waimea and Mary Lou (Robert) Maertens of Pahoa; son, David J. Cynthia Soon Hee Nazara, 71, of Holualoa died Feb. 9 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a Hawaiian cultural liason, a business owner, commissioner for Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park, president of Kona Hawaiian Civic Club, council member for West Hawaii Fisheries and Hawaii Island Burial Council, board member for Kona Historical Society, member of Ka Ulu Lauhala, board advisor for Ka‘upulehu Marine Life Advisory Committee, chairperson and member of Public Access Open Space and Natural Resources Preservation Commission and coordinator for Kaupulehu Makai Watch. Toshiko Okamoto, 91, of Hilo died Feb. 25 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was retired and a member of Higashi Hongwanji Mission. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). The late Robert W. Brigoli Sr. was survived by, among others, daughter Darnyl L. (William) Palama. Her name was incorrectly submitted for an obituary published Tuesday.
