Grace Nichols netted a hat trick and Mackenzie Carvalho scored twice Wednesday as Waiakea won its first game BIIF water polo game under coach first-year Coco Flores-Oishi, 9-2 over Hilo at Naeole Pool in Keaau.

Ashley Rynkewicz, Korrie Tengan, Patricia Saiki and Amber Eakins also scored goals for the Warriors (1-1) in what was the only match of the day. The Vikings fell to 0-2.

Because of the closure of Kona Community Aquatic Center for repairs, Saturday’s slate of five matches will be held at Naeole Pool.
