Michael Benevides Jr., 18, of Hilo died Feb. 5. Born in Hilo, he was a 2018 graduate of Hilo High School and Special Olympics athlete. Potluck celebration of life noon-4 p.m. Saturday (March 9) at Onekahakaha Beach Park large pavilion. Robert W. “Kiyoshi Bob” Brigoli Sr., 81, of Keaau died Feb. 19 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he was a retiree from the Hawaii Army National Guard and Army Reserve, owner of Bobby’s Taxi & Tours, substitute teacher, member of New Hope Hilo, post commander for Veterans of Foreign Wars in Wilmington, Calif., Hawaii, karate instructor, Special Olympics volunteer and played with Big Island Horseshoe Club. Visitation 10-10:55 a.m. Saturday (March 9) at New Hope Hilo. Celebration of life service with military honors at 11 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers; cremation to follow. Sonia “Son” (Kauwe) Ching, 45, of Keaau died Feb. 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hauula, Oahu, she was a student at Hawaii Community College, former photographer at Sears Portrait Studio in Hilo and Ala Moana and team mom for “Hawaiian Isle Athletics Baseball.” Visitation 6-7 p.m. Friday (March 8) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel.
