Chilly weather and scattered showers are to be expected through the weekend and the beginning of next week as cool air continues to arrive from the north.

According to National Weather Service forecasts, the temperature in Hilo is not expected to pass 78 degrees Fahrenheit all next week, with lows remaining at the mid-to-low 60s.

Saturday and Sunday have a 40 percent to 50 percent chance of rain, which will take the form of scattered showers, while winds of approximately 10 mph will continue all weekend.

Every day next week is currently predicted to bring scattered showers to Hilo as well.

A high wind advisory remains in effect for the Maunakea and Mauna Loa summits.
