Man accused of assaulting ex on Valentine’s Day

A 33-year-old Hilo man faces numerous charges for allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend on St. Valentine’s Day.

At about 11:11 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a disturbance at a Kinoole Street residence, where the man, Timothy Emory, reportedly took a baseball bat and damaged a vehicle and other property belonging to the alleged victim, a 33-year-old woman.

The woman reportedly sustained minor injuries during the confrontation but declined medical treatment.

On Friday afternoon, Emory was charged with second-degree robbery, second- and third-degree assault, second-degree criminal property damage, two counts of second-degree terroristic threatening, and second-degree theft.

His bail was set at $76,000 and his initial court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
