Ernest Minoru Higa, 71, of Hilo died Jan. 21 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a maintenance worker and member of The House Hilo. Celebration of life 11 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 16) at The House Hilo, 2282 Kanoelehua Ave. Casual attire. Survived by sons, John “Jay” (Monica) Higa of Keaau, Melvet Higa of Hilo and Shelson Higa of Hilo; daughters, Redlyn (Robert) Momotaro of Majuro, Marshall Islands, Naomi (Kory) Higa of Hilo, Darling (Takia) Takia of Keaau, Alise “Tita” (Shandy) Higa and Bernice Higa of Hilo; sisters, Hideko Honda and Patsy Soto of California, Shirley “Junko” Ige of Haleiwa, Oahu; brothers, Howard Higa of Hawaii Kai, Oahu, and Roddy Higa of Oahu; 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Felisa Halena Sesson Kaniho, 85, of South Point Road died Jan. 10 at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in Ka‘u, she was a retired kitchen helper for Ka‘u Hospital, food pantry worker and member of Ka‘u Ward of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 16) at Ka‘u Ward of The Church of The Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Naalehu. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Naalehu Community Cemetery.
