A bill aiming to ban cigarette sales failed to get out of its first committee this week.

The state House Health Committee voted to hold House Bill 1509 on Thursday, effectively killing it.

Introduced by Rep. Richard Creagan, the bill would have incrementally raised the age to buy cigarettes to 100.
