David Jeffery Goebel, 37, of Pahoa died Jan. 20 at home. He was born in Seattle. Survived by wife, Michelle Goebel; mother, Aldean “Amy” Goebel; son, Brennan Goebel; daughters, Breanna Goebel, Destiney Goebel and Danni Goebel; brothers, Shawn Goebel and Kyle Goebel; sister, Angel Goebel; paternal grandmother, Corinne Goebel; aunts and uncles. Kathleen Dorothy Furtado, 66, of Keaau died on Jan. 22 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Newport, R.I., she was an orchid enthusiast and jack of all trades. Private services. Emiko Iwashita, 91, of Chandler, Ariz. died Jan. 17 in Chandler. Born in Pohakea, she was a retired bookkeeper for Koreaki Iwashita Contracting and former member of Double Nine Golf Club, Hilo Kamana Gateball Club and several Hilo bowling leagues. Daryl Lynn Lopez, 64, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 13 at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Pahala, he was a construction laborer and cook at Bamboo and the former Sizzler restaurant. Morris “Mo” Mathews, 91, of Honokaa died Jan. 27 at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Los Angeles, and raised in Hermosa Beach, Calif., he was a teacher at Honokaa High School, worked for the former Honokaa and Hamakua sugar companies, was an administrative assistant at the Law Office of Edith Kawai and held national and international swimming records. Elizabeth N. O’Neil, 75, of Hilo died Jan. 24 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Lanai City, Lanai, she was an operating room assistant at Hilo Medical Center.
