Police say a search warrant executed Friday on a Puna house yielded a sizable amount of narcotics and cash.
According to police, officers who searched the Ainaloa subdivision home seized almost 1.3 pounds of methamphetamine packaged for distribution, more than an ounce of heroin, more than 4 ounces of cocaine, more than 750 opioid prescription painkiller pills, 3.3 pounds of marijuana and almost $15,000.
Police say the street value of the confiscated drugs is about $143,000, and the cash was seized for possible forfeiture.
A man and a woman, 45-year-old Jason Ledward and 31-year-old Jasmine Enriques, both of Pahoa, were taken into custody at the scene.
On Saturday, Ledward was charged with three counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, two counts of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug, second-degree commercial promotion of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bail was set at $460,000.
Enriques was charged with third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug.
Her bail was set at $5,000.
The most serious charge faced by Ledward, first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, is a Class A felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison upon conviction.
The only charge filed against Enriques, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, is a Class C felony with a possible five-year prison term upon conviction.
Ledward and Enriques were being detained at the Hilo police cellblock, and their initial court appearances were scheduled for today.
A search of court records turned up no prior criminal convictions for either individual.
