Kahele to run for U.S. House seat

State Sen. Kai Kahele, D-Hilo, today announced he is running for the 2nd Congressional District seat in the 2020 election.

The seat currently is held by Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who has said she intends to run for president.

Surrounded by supporters, friends and family, which included his wife and daughters, Kahele announced his candidacy at the Moʻoheau Bandstand in downtown Hilo.
