Joseph “Joe” Aloi Akiu, Sr., 74, of Waiohinu died Dec. 29 at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in Waiohinu, he was a former electrician, musician, U.S. Navy Vietnam War veteran, member and music director for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu and president of Naalehu Senior Center. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 26) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Naalehu Community Cemetery. Casual attire. Jasmine DeJesus (Milare) Henriques, 68, of Hilo died Dec. 23 at Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Hilo. Potluck celebration of life 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Reed’s Bay Beach Park. Jonette “Bulla” Leinohea Fujiko Jones, 38, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 9 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, she was a mail clerk for Mailboxes, Etc. and front desk receptionist for Kona Bali Kai. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at at Kona Palisades Recreation Center. Celebration of life service at 10 a.m. Survived by sister, Leesha (Clint Hirayasu) Jones of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Billy (Val) Jones and Shane (Lisa) Jones of Kailua-Kona; hanai brothers, Wendell Fujino Jr. and Clinton (Josie) Berdon of Kailua Kona; uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Kaimi Keller Keohokalole, 45, of Keaau died Jan. 7 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kailua, Oahu, he was a graphic artist. Soon Sun Morita, 79, of Hilo died Dec. 7 in Honolulu. Born in Seoul, Korea, she was office manager for the former Garry Morita Electric, worked at the former Hilo Lagoon Hotel and was a member of Hilo Korean Christian Church. Gloria “Aunty Goya” Buyuan Panglao, 79, of Pahala, died Jan. 7 at home.
