High Performance tryouts

USA Volleyball High Performance junior tryouts will be held Feb. 2 at UH-Hilo gym.

Girls tryouts are from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and the boys go from 2-6 p.m.

Check-in begins at the tryout start time, and participation is guaranteed if participants register by 5 a.m. Jan. 26 at a cost of $90.

Registration at https://www.teamusa.org/usa- volleyball/high-performance/hp-indoor/tryouts is capped and space is limited for athletes who register late, but a late sign-up fee of $115 is available until 5 a.m. Jan. 30, and a last-chance registration of $140 is applicable until the tryouts.

New Hope registration

The New Hope Angels are accepting registration for the spring season for the coach-pitch/pinto (ages 6-8) division.

Any child with an interest in baseball is welcome.

Setting the record straight

Keaau High’s Michael Lagorio’s name was misspelled in the Jan. 10 BIIF boys soccer story.

Entering play Tuesday, Lagorio had scored four of the Cougars’ six goals on the season.
