Fumio Hamakawa, 93, of Hilo died Nov. 28 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a small business owner specializing in heavy-duty equipment and parts and U.S. Army World War II veteran. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Friday (Jan. 18) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 5 p.m. Private urn committal at a later date. Aloha attire; no koden (monetary gifts). Clara Leialoha Omerod, 90, of Honolulu died Nov. 29 in Honolulu. Born in Ka‘u, she was a retired housekeeping supervisor for Kuakini Medical Center and kupuna of Keaukaha Hawaiian Homesteads and Alu Like Kupuna Program. Francis “Keao” Joseph Keaowehewehe Peters, 47, of Waimea died Jan. 5 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Hilo, he was a general mechanic. Born in Waipuka, Kohala, he was a retired heavy equipment operator, cowboy at Huehue Ranch, fisherman, employee of original Kona Inn, member of Pahoa Ward and former bishop of Kona First Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and member of Operating Engineers Union Local 3. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Friday (Jan. 18) at Orchidland Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation again 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 19) at Kona Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Kona Memorial Park.
