Kevin Austin Callahan, 58, of Ocean View died Nov. 26 at Hawaii Care Choices in Hilo. Born in San Diego, he was a food server. Celebration of life at 2 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Keauhou Beach Park in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire. Survived by brothers, Paul (Cathy) John Callahan, Jr., of Idaho, Sean Callahan of Ka‘u and Brian Callahan of California; sisters, Mary Callahan and Meegan Callahan-McDonald, both of Wisconsin; numerous nieces and nephews. Antone Cardoza, Jr., 93, of Hilo died Dec. 11 at home. Born on Oahu, he was a retired welder for Dole Pineapple Cannery on Oahu and former president of the Wahiawa Fishing Club. Phyllis “Honey Girl” Naomi Akamu Ma‘ele Duarte Hashimoto, 80, of Naalehu died Nov. 20 at Ka‘u Hospital in Pahala. Born in Kealakekua, she was a homemaker. Cyril Lani Pahinui-Kahahawai, 68, died Nov. 17 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, he was a master slack-key guitarist and second-generation Hawaiian music legend, the son of Philip “Gabby” Pahinui-Kahahawai, and U.S. Army veteran of 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. Celebration of life 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at Kawaiaha‘o Church, 957 Punchbowl St. in Honolulu. Formal services at noon. Service will include full military honors and musicians are encouraged to bring an instrument and join in kanikapila. No flowers. Kikue “Mama” Ryusaki, 98, of Waimea died Dec. 24 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Captain Cook, she was a homemaker and member of Kamuela Hongwanji Mission, Buddhist Women’s Association, Kamuela Japanese-American Civic Association and Kamuela Senior Citizens.
