Catherine Chow, Sara Kimura, Jaymie Kunitomo, Ka’i Kunitomo, Jana Masunaga, Taylie Oshiro, Jamie Saito, Shayla Sayphone, Leiana Andrade-Stout, Caileen Teramoto and chaperones Joan Chong and Lisa Taniguchi from Hawaii Island joined 13 other 4-H’ers and two other chaperones from Maui from Nov. 23-27 during the 98th National 4-H Congress in Atlanta.
This is the highest state honor attainable by a 4-H’er in recognition of significant accomplishments in the Hawaii 4-H Youth Development Program.
The conference theme, “Be True, Be You,” brought together more than 850 4-H’ers from throughout the country.
The 4-H’ers were challenged by motivational speakers, hands-on workshops, cultural programs and community service experiences. The 4-H’ers had an opportunity to expand and further develop their leadership skills.
Partial scholarship support for this national recognition event was provided by the Hawaii 4-H Alumni Association.
The 4-H Youth Development Program is conducted through the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources and Cooperative Extension.
