Pahoa Holiday Parade

The 25th annual Holiday Parade in Pahoa is history, but the judges have chosen the winners among the 52 entrants, which was the largest number of participants in the history of the parade.

Best Keiki Age Group: Pre-School to 6th Grade

First place: Malama Waldorf

Second place: Kua O Ka La New Century P.C.S.

Best Student Age Group: 7th to 12th Grade

First place: Youth Challenge

Second place: Big Island Babes Junior Roller Derby

Best Performing Arts Group

First place: Hiccup Circus

Second place: Bobby Reno Band

Best Kupuna Group

First place: PUKA Ukulele Band

Second place: Pahoa Ho’olaulea

Best True to Theme “Celebrating Pahoa”

First place: Pu’uhonua O Puna

Second place: County Council District 4 Representative Ashley Kierkiewicz

Keaau Village Lighted Christmas Parade

The theme for the 15th annual Keaau Village Lighted Christmas Parade was Critter Christmas. The five judges scored the entrants on originality, spirit and attractiveness. The Grand Marshall this year was Adam Pereira, president of the Hawaii Island Humane Society Keaau, who led the pack of floats, marching bands, cars and big rigs.
