Ethel Chiharu Aoki, 90, of Captain Cook died Nov. 24 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a registered nurse and member of Akitsu Gumi, Kona Hongwanji Kyodan and Buddhist Women’s Association, Kona Hongwanji Jiho, Kona Hongwanji Danna Program, Hawaii Government Employee Association and Kumamoto Kenjin Kai. Visitation 11 a.m.-noon Sunday (Dec. 2) at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua. Memorial service at noon. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by son, Bart (Martin Low) Aoki of San Francisco; daughter, Geri Ann (Glenn) Aoki-Davidson of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Seiya Hasegawa of Oahu and Kikuo (Marilyn) Hasegawa of Hilo; sister, Akime Hiwatashi of Maui; two granddaughters; nieces and nephews. Leslie D. Correia, 73, of Kalopa, died Nov. 24 at home. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was a retired Hawaii County police officer, watermelon farmer, rancher, former owner of Alfalfa Hay and Cubes Feed Store in Paauilo and U.S. Navy veteran. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by wife, Kay Correia of Kalopa; daughters, Lisa (Matthew) Correia-Burger of Olalla, Wash., and Michelle (Paul) Correia of Kalopa; son, Brendon (Zelina) Correia of Honokaa; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. William “Will Devine” Hulyk, 58, of Pahoa died Nov. 15 at home. Born in Detroit, he was a caregiver, musician, drummer in Girls Nite Out and mentor to younger musicians. Celebration of life noon Sunday (Dec. 2) at Lava Shack in Pahoa featuring a number of bands, including Girls Nite Out. Sanae Matsumura, 77, of Kealakekua died Nov. 7 at home. Born in Honaunau, she was a former cashier for KTA Super Stores and the former Sure Save Supermarkets, secretary for Kona Rancho Produce and member of Kona Senior Karaoke Club, Konawaena High School Class of 1959 Alumni and Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Private services for immediate family. Celebration of life 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Yano Hall in Captain Cook. Aloha attire. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Sadao Oshiro, 81, of Hilo died Aug. 9 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Mountain View, he was a retired journeyman welder for the former HT&T Co. and U.S. Army veteran. Jean Kelekolio Rapoza, 86, of Keaau died Nov. 12 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honaunanu, she retired from the former Hilo Quality Cleaners and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again 8-10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire.
