Born at the former Subic Bay U.S. Naval Station, Olongapo, Philippines, he was a Native Hawaiian farmer of medicinal plants for Pu‘u‘ala Farms and founder/owner of Kanaka Kava restaurant, a traditional awa bar in Kona.
