Volleyball: Four Vulcans named to All-PacWest Team

UH-Hilo sophomore outside hitter Bria Beale was named to the All-PacWest volleyball first team while senior libero Mina Grant was selected to the third team , and senor setter Basia Sauni and sophomore middle Ashton Jessee received honorable mention.

Beale, a transfer from Division I UC Irvine, led the Vulcans in kills and was second in digs and service aces.

Grant became UHH”s all-time digs leader with 1,564 in her final match against Chaminade. She averaged 4.4 digs per set this season and had a season-best 33 against Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Sauni averaged 5.86 assists per set and was third with 252 digs and 28 aces. Jessee led the PacWest in blocks (1.31) per set, 11th in Division II.

“We had a balanced team, but it is nice to have a few players get recognition,” UHH coach Gene Krieger said in a release. “To receive that affirmation from the league’s coaches to a good sign that our program is moving forward.”
