Leilani Kanehailua Araki, 64, of Kohala died Oct. 27 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Japan, she was a server with Paradise Gourmet Catering, banquet server at The Orchid at Mauna Lani and member of Landmark Baptist Church in North Kohala. Celebration of life memorial service Nov. 17 at Landmark Baptist Church. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Service at 10 a.m. Survived by husband, Jeffrey Araki of Kohala; parent, Clement (Patricia) Kanehailua Sr. of Oceanside, Calif.; sons, Justin Araki, Aaron Araki and Darwen Araki of Kohala and Jordan (Janelle) Araki of Hilo; brothers, Milton (Chris) Kanehailua of Riverside, Calif., Raymond (Marilyn) Kanehailua and Clement Kanehailua Jr. of Kohala and Joseph Kanehailua of Oceanside; sisters, Ann (Timothy) Kanehailua-Coito of Kohala and Jeanette (Glen) Goodrich of Oceanside; three grandchildren; aunts, uncles and cousins. Sadako “Jean” Oda, 94, of Hilo died Oct. 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Paauilo, she was a retired personnel manager for the Hawaii County and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Bestuin. Private services held. No flowers or koden. Survived by sons, Matthew Oda of Los Angeles, Scott (Marlene) Oda of Hilo; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Francisca Ver Pasamonte, 82, of Kapaau died Nov. 5 at home. Born in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, she was a proprietor of Silver Pas Seamstress, worked at Royal Waikoloa Beach Hotel, Hapuna Prince Hotel and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi. Visitation 8-9:45 a.m. Nov. 17 at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Celebration of Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Flowers and lei welcome. Burial at Halawa Catholic Cemetery. Graciano Rivera, 90, of Kahaluu Mauka died Oct. 27 at home. Born in Holualoa, he was a retired coffee farmer, construction worker for E.M. Rivera and U.S. Army veteran. Jeffrey Hideo Shigemi, 59, of Kahului, Maui, died Oct. 18 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a journeyman carpenter and member of the Pukalani Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Shoji Shiraki, 91, of Hilo died Nov. 6 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Olaa, he served in the U.S. Army, and was formerly employed at I. Kitagawa Motors and Napa Auto Parts.
