Dennis Rueben Bangay, 74, of Kealakekua died Oct. 25 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a journeyman plumber for the state and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Lunch to follow. Casual attire. Ralph Austin Bard III, 79, of Hawi died Oct. 25 at home. Born in Charleston, W.Va., he was an investment manager and cowboy. Private services. Raymond “Tom” Thomas Mata Jr., 51, of Waikoloa, died Sept. 29 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a landscaper for Resort Management Group. Miyoko Hasegawa Matsuo, 97, of Waipahu, Oahu, formerly of Honokaa, died Nov. 1 at Palolo Chinese Nursing Home in Honolulu. Born in Honokaa, she was a retired clerk for S. Hasegawa Store. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Paauilo Kongoji Mission. Service at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment at a later date at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) in Honolulu. William “Bill” Roy Trumbo, 79, of Kailua-Kona and Volcano, died Oct. 28 at a private care home in Hilo. Born in New Haven, Ky., he was retired athletic director at Konawaena High School, former athletic director at University of Hawaii at Hilo life-long educator, coach, athletic director and teacher at Garden Grove High School, Culver-Stockton College, Sonoma State University, Santa Rosa Junior College, University of Idaho, McMinnville High School, Santa Barbara City College, Cal State University-Monterey Bay and Diablo Valley College, member and leader at New Hope Christian Fellowship in Volcano, Christian Church of Pacific Grove, Calif., and First Baptist Church of Santa Rosa, Calif. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at New Hope-Hilo, 840 Kupulau Road. Celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Memorial donations to New Hope-Volcano.
