Astronomers using W.M. Keck Observatory atop Maunakea and the Hubble Space Telescope have captured the best images yet of two black holes merging.
The merger occurred as two galaxies collided, creating one mega black hole.
The images support the idea that galaxy mergers are needed to trigger large black hole growth, Keck said in a press release.
