The board of directors of the Hilo Health Cooperative, lead by volunteer president Kimberly Pierce, has announced the appointment of Chris Dunston as its general manager.

The appointment took effect Oct. 15.

“The membership is fortunate to have a man of Chris’ experience with management and ownership positions at fitness centers in New York, North Carolina and California,” Pierce said. “He is an advocate of overall wellness, a longtime student of martial arts, and an experienced trainer who has worked with professional sport teams in the past.”

The Hilo Health Cooperative is located across from Ken’s House of Pancakes and behind WaterWorks in Hilo.

The co-op accepts personal referrals from current members and from primary care physicians who send patients to participate in the 12-week “Base Camp” beginners’ program.

If you know someone who would benefit from time with a healthy community, come check out the Hilo Health Cooperative.

“It’s different than any gym you’ve tried,” Pierce said. “We promise.”
