Good is fine.

Good and motivated is better.

Biola figures to both Friday night for a Pacific West Conference volleyball rematch at UH-Hilo with second place on the line.

“I think that they are going to have revenge on their minds, and I hope (we) are prepared for what they will bring,” Vulcans coach Gene Krieger said.

The Vuls (12-4, 8-2 PacWest) conclude a homestand with matches against the Eagles of Biola ( 7 p.m.) and Concordia (3 p.m. Sunday).

Biola (14-5, 10-2) hasn’t lost since a five-setter at home Sept. 20 at the hands of UHH.

On the injury front, Krieger said libero Mina Grant “practiced all week” and will be a game-time decision. The senior sat out a split last weekend against Chaminade (four-set loss) and Hawaii Pacific (four-set win) with a shoulder injury. The Vuls are 3-1 on the homestand.

Senior middle blocker Kiley Davis, meanwhile, is still at least a few weeks away from returning. In her absence, junior Armani Moultrie came through with a collegiate-best 10 kills and a robust .625 hitting percentage against the Sharks.

Moultrie’s big effort wasn’t much of surprise, Krieger said, considering that she was the MVP of the Haili Tournament earlier this year.

Biola is coming off of a four-set win Tuesday at Chaminade and a sweep a day later at HPU. Sierra Bauder leads all of NCAA Division II in hitting percentage (.449), and Christina DenBoer is fifth in the PacWest in kills (3.07).

“We’ll have to keep tabs on (Bauder) and wherever she lines up,” Krieger said. “The one outside hitter, we’ll try keep Evelin (Solyomvari) on her side.

“The main thing is to just worry about ourselves.”

That worked well the last time out.
