UH-Hilo’s softball team is where it needs to be for now.
The Vulcans (25-13, 13-17 PacWest) were ranked No. 8 on the Wednesday in the first official NCAA Division II West Region poll.
After the third ranking, the top eight teams will qualify for the postseason.
First, UHH has plenty of work to do, beginning with road contests at Notre Dame de Namur and Academy of Art.
Vuls lose: Stanislaus State sent the UHH women to the consolation bracket at the PacWest tennis championships, winning 5-4 in Suprise, Ariz.
UH-Hilo (7-10), the No. 8 seed, had singles victory on courts two, three and four with Daniela Sanz, Sara Marin and Marina Colvee claiming victory. In doubles, Marin and Irena Le won at No 3 doubles, but the Warriors (8-11) won the other two doubles matches to claim the victory.
