• Wheaton College (Ill.) student Arah Ko of Keaau was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester.
• Maxine Block of Pahoa was named to the 2017 fall semester dean’s list at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D. Block, a senior who is scheduled to graduate in May, is an English creative writing major and the daughter of John and Virgina Block.
• Ian McQuate of Keaau recently was initiated into the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. McQuate was initiated at Nova Southeastern University in Baton Rouge, La.
