Police arrested and charged a 59-year-old Waikoloa man as a result of a monthlong investigation brought about by numerous community complaints.

James Anthony Nelson was apprehended Tuesday in the parking lot of the Waikoloa Highlands Shopping Center.

Officers seized about 11.5 grams of suspected black tar-like heroin, 7.5 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and an unregistered 9 mm pistol. Officers also seized $5,594 for potential forfeiture.
