A guest looks at information about the volcanic hazards associated with Mauna Loa volcano from U.S. Geological Survey on Saturday during “Mauna Loa: Let’s Talk Story,” a 2018 Volcano Awareness Month community program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. The free event will be presented again from noon-3 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Konawaena Elementary School cafeteria. In addition, the Hawaii Island Realtors and Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce will present “Mauna Loa: What We Need to Know” during a joint luncheon meeting from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 7 at ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center’s Moanahoku Hall. The cost is $30 for HIR and HICC members and employees, $35 for all others. Preregistration is required by Jan. 31 to the HICC office. For more information, call 935-7178 or email admin@hicc.biz.
