Police are seeking the public’s help for leads on two men and a woman, considered armed and dangerous, who remain at large following a bizarre alleged abduction Saturday in Puna.
Sought are: Joshua Sosa, a 25-year-old Keaau man described as 5 foot 8 inches tall, 170 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes; Claude Carvalho Jr., a 32-year-old Pahoa man described as 6 feet tall, 210 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes; and Nikki Nasario, a 26-year-old Pahoa woman described as 5 foot 1 inch tall, 135 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
A fourth suspect, 34-year-old Paul Alisa of Pahoa, turned himself in Saturday at the Pahoa Police Station after police released a public bulletin about the incident. He was booked on suspicion of kidnapping and later released from custody pending further investigation.
At 12:31 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call of a kidnapping at a Hee Street address in Hawaiian Beaches. Witnesses reported a 31-year-old woman staying at the home was struck in the face with a tire iron before being forced into the trunk of a sedan at gunpoint.
Police Lt. Miles Chong of the Hilo Criminal Investigations Section said Tuesday the suspects and victim “are all acquaintances.” Chong said police were told the alleged incident was the result of a “dispute over property.”
At 5:32 p.m., police were notified that the victim was dropped off at the Hee Street address. She was taken by ambulance to Hilo Medical Center, where she was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.
“Her injuries weren’t severe enough to be admitted,” Chong said. He said the woman was taken back to the house by someone other than the suspects.
Police think the suspects still at large might be driving a maroon 1998 Toyota sedan with a shattered back window and Hawaii license plate HCD 702.
They consider the suspects “armed and dangerous” and advise the public against approaching them.
Chong said police are investigating the incident as a kidnapping.
