O’Hara hosting town hall meeting

Hawaii County Councilwoman Eileen O’Hara is hosting a town hall meeting at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Pahoa Community Center.

Presentations by various county and state officials will include information about the Pahoa Village master plan, Highway 130 improvements, a rapid ohia death update, mass transit plan, Pahoa skate park, a second ambulance for Puna, rat lungworm disease, pesticide-free parks, rooster farms and Small Business Saturday.

Bazaar to benefit Hilo mission

The annual Hilo Hooganji Mission bazaar is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at 457 Manono St. near the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.

This year’s event features fresh produce and plants on a first-come, first-get basis, as well as sushi, katsu curry bento, nishime, pickles and preserves, sushi and assorted rice dishes, baked goods, manju, and lots of snacks and goodies.

Rummage sale items include clothing, kimono and other ethnic apparel, antiques and collectibles, furniture, appliances, books and toys, craft items, and more. All proceeds go toward building maintenance and repair and continued community outreach.

BIKSP assisting with enrollment

The nonprofit Big Island Kokua Services Partnership is helping residents navigate through the sometimes confusing process of applying for health insurance.

The enrollment period started Nov. 1 and ends Dec. 15 for a coverage start date of Jan. 1, 2018.

BIKSP partners include the Hawaii Island HIV/AIDS Foundation, The Arc of Hilo, Kalanihale and West Hawaii Community Health Center. For more information, call Rachelle C. Hanohano, BIKSP program manager at 896-5051.
