Delbert Yin Kiu Ching Sr., 90, of Hilo died Aug. 24 at home. Born in Niulii, Kohala, he was a retired county fire inspector, retired U.S. Army and Hawaii National Guard officer and veteran of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. Private services held. Arthur Talaro, 77, of Pioneertown, Calif., formerly of Honokaa and Honolulu, died July 23 in Pioneertown. Born in Haina, he was a retired professor in the Life Sciences Department at Pasadena City College, author of biology and microbiology manuals and textbooks, woodworker and computer illustrator. Joel (Katherine) Himalaya, son of the late Antonina “Toni” Himalaya, lives in Hilo. An incorrect name and hometown was submitted for an obituary published Wednesday.

Services for the late Ken Kenichi Shigeoka, already held, were private. And a flag appeared in error in his obituary published Wednesday. He was not a U.S. military veteran. The Tribune-Herald regrets the error.
