Botanical World egg hunts slated

Children ages 2-11 can enjoy the fun of searching for more than 2,000 plastic eggs during the third annual free Easter Egg Hunts at 10 a.m. April 15-16 at Botanical World Adventures.

“The event has been a huge success the last two years so we made it even bigger this year,” said Kika Nixon, operations manager.

Children will gather the eggs then turn them in for candy or prizes. Admission to the World Botanical Gardens attraction at Botanical World Adventures is free for children and families attending the egg hunts.

A special sunrise service by the Hilo Coast United Church of Christ also will take place at Botanical World from 6-6:45 a.m. Easter Sunday. All are welcome. The service will be at the Kamae‘e Falls overlook at Botanical World.

Botanical World Adventures is located north of Hilo at mile marker 16 on Highway 19. For more information, call 963-5427 (toll free 888-947-4753) or visit www.ZipIsle.com or BotanicalWorld.com.

HPA Community Book Club to meet

The Hawaii Preparatory Academy Community Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. April 20 in the Ko Kakou Student Union, Upper Campus.

The meetings are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served and participants are invited to bring a snack to share.

Lois Inman, Dyer Memorial librarian, and Jaime Johnson, Upper School English teacher, will lead the group. The current book selection is “The Forgetting Time” by Sharon Guskin.

What would you do if your 4-year-old son claimed he lived another life and he wants to go back to it? That he wants his other mother?

Guskin’s “fearlessly provocative” debut novel explores the lengths we will go for our children.

“The Forgetting Time” examines what we regret in the end of our lives and hope for in the beginning, and everything in between.
