Big Island poets will gather at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus for their presentation “Voices: Rising from the Page.”

Big Island poets will gather at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus for their presentation “Voices: Rising from the Page.”

This is a unique opportunity to hear the poets read their work as they share stories of triumph, sadness and the range of emotions that come from the written page.

Big Island renshi poets Mililani Hughes, Bela Johnson, Ma‘ata Tukuafu and Dina Kageler will read from the cycle titled “Bloodlines.”

Other poets scheduled to read are Kanani Aton, Clint Anderson, Ernelle Downs and Pualani Johnson.

The evening also will include an opportunity to discuss poetry, a chance to win a copy of the CD “Ho‘okupu” and purchase Bamboo Ridge books.

VAC’s Niaulani Campus is located at 19-4074 Old Volcano Road in Volcano Village.

This presentation is free, however donations always welcome.
