Hideo “Henry” Funada, 92, of Hilo died April 7 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was retired from the former Hawaiian Equipment Co., a U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Hilo Church of the Nazarene and Kupulau-Haihai Kumiai. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Monday (April 18) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 6 p.m. Graveside committal service and burial 9 a.m. Tuesday (April 19) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by sisters-in-law, Carole Funada of Hilo and Nobuko Oshiro of Honolulu; nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Gary “Too Tall” Haase, 68, of Kailua-Kona died April 9 at Hospice of Kona Nakamaru Hale. Born in Yankton, S.D., he was a laborer and a protea farmer. Private services. Roland Kiaaina Perez Sr., 59, of Kailua-Kona died March 13 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in North Kohala, he was a retired deputy sheriff, diver, fisherman and member of New Hope Legacy. Visitation only 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Gospel of Salvation Church in Kokoiki, North Kohala. Light refreshments will be served. Visitation again 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at the church.
