RBI baseball, T-ball sign-ups

The Nobu Yamauchi RBI Organization still has open spots for T-ball (ages 5-6; born between May 1, 2009 and April 30th 2011) and Pony (13-14; born between May 1, 2001 and April 30, 2003).

Paradise Roller Girls sign-ups

The Paradise Roller Girls are seeking new members for the 2016 season, and the East Hawaii league will hold a recruitment night at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers, 500 Kalanianaole Ave. in Hilo, Building 1.

Rookie Camp starts 7 p.m. Jan. 4 at Wainaku Gym.

PRG welcomes people of all ages, skill and fitness levels.

While PRG skaters must be female, men and women are invited to fulfill roles as nonskating officials and skating referees. No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome.

New skaters are invited to attend PRG’s open practices Sundays (10 a.m.-noon) and Mondays (7-9 p.m.) through December at Wainaku Gym, and free skate Fridays from 6-8 p.m. Dec. 11 and 18 from at Wainaku Gym.

Skates and safety gear are available to borrow.

Derby girls will be available to answer questions and help new skaters learn basic skills. Those unable to attend recruitment night are encouraged to contact PRG about other upcoming events.

Waimea softball

Parks and Recreation in Waimea will host a free instructional softball for ages 9-10 and 11-12.

On-site sign-ups will be taken at 4 p.m. Monday at Waimea Park, with a clinic to follow. Players mush wear shoes and bring a glove.

Scrimmages will be held on Wednesdays in January.

Top shot

Tom Griffiths (69) took top honors at a B.A.D. Company sporting clay shoot in November at the county trap and skeet range.

Behind Griffiths in the 100-target sub-gauge event were Dexter Egdamin (63) and Hinano Matsu Jr. (59).

The club’s final event of the year will be held from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Dec. 13. All shotguns, ammunition and eye and ear protection must be supplied by participants.
