The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaii at Hilo will present a series of five six-hour sessions about agroforestry beginning Saturday.
The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawaii at Hilo will present a series of five six-hour sessions about agroforestry beginning Saturday.
The sessions will be hosted on campus at the College of Agriculture, Building 102, adjacent to the UH-Hilo greenhouse.
Zach Mermel of OLA Design Group will conduct the sessions, which will be hosted on successive Saturdays. The cost is $325 for all five classes or $75 per session. The classes and topics are as follows:
• Session 1: Overview of agroforestry practices for Hawaii’s farmers (Saturday).
• Session 2: Useful agroforestry plants for your farm (March 21).
• Session 3: Integrating animals into your agroforestry system (March 28).
• Session 4: “Right Plant, Right Place: Intercropping and Other Strategies” (April 4).
• Session 5: Diversified farm development (April 11).
