Bill Sewell is a retired carpenter who has lived in Hawaii 27 years. In 2006, he started making picture frames and cutting mat board for photographs, this led to making small boxes and other things out of mat board.
Soon, he was collecting and using decorative papers to make paper ornaments based on the geometric polyhedron.
Currently, Sewell is exploring new ways of cutting, folding, gluing and embellishing paper.
He will be demonstrating how to construct a variety of paper ornaments like the ones he currently has on display in the Fountain Gallery of Wailoa Art &Cultural Center.
Ongoing demonstrations will be conducted 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday. The event is free and open to the public.
“This is a great activity for children of all ages on holiday break,” said center director Codie King.
Also on display in the Center’s Main Gallery is “People and Their Furred and Feathered Friends Celebrate the Holidays!” This is a fun array of animal portraits, Christmas trees and wreaths.
