The next presentation in Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center’s free “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series will be given by Erin R. Henschel, Esq., and is titled “Ins and Outs of the Divorce process: Information for Self-Represented Divorces.”
The presentation is slated for noon-1 p.m. Thursday (March 21) at the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, 655 Kilauea Ave., in Hilo.
This month’s speaker is Erin R. Henschel, Esq. on the topic “Ins and Outs of the Divorce Process: Information for Self-Represented Divorces.”
“Navigating legal issues around divorce information can trip people up,” Henschel says. “We’ll go over terms such as ‘legal custody’ vs. ‘physical custody,’ ‘visitation’ vs. ‘custody’ and what ‘martial assets’ really are.”
In this talk, learn about initial filings for self-represented divorces, benefits of mediation in divorce and resources available. (Note: Divorce information provided is general and will not constitute legal advice.)
Henschel received her bachelor of arts degree with honors in international development from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, and her Juris Doctor degree from Emory University in Atlanta. She originally came to Kailua-Kona to work for Legal Aid Society of Hawaii as an AmeriCorps volunteer, then fell in love with Hawaii Island so stayed to make her home here. Henschel started a private family practice, Lehua Law, in Kailua-Kona.
The presentation is open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch, enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session and meet others interested in “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.” This lunch-and-learn series is hosted from noon-1 p.m. the third Thursday of every month.
