Juanita Maria Finkenberg, 68, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 30 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in Los Angeles, she was a retired university professor, dance teacher at West Hawaii Dance Academy and choreographer at Aloha Theater. Memorial at sea 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Keauhou Bay, with celebration of life 2-5 p.m. at the Kona Outdoor Circle in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire; loose flowers only for memorial at sea. Memorial donations to Hospice of Kona. Survived by husband, Mel Finkenberg of Kailua-Kona; son, Brian (Virginia) Dotson of Santa Clarita, Calif.; stepdaughter, Amber (Ryan) Esselstrom of Wewoka, Okla.; sisters, Sarah (Robin) De Levita of Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Maureen (Artie) Colson of Bakersfield, Calif.; brother, Howard (Rachel) Miles of Camarillo, Calif.; brother-in-law, Barry (Cindy Coats) Finkenberg of Kailua-Kona; sister-in-law, Karen (Larry) Furey of Tillson, N.Y.; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
