Kohala’s Adriana Soriano headlined the BIIF Girls All-League Division II First Team that was released earlier this week, as the junior was named the BIIF DII Player of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
Soriano was instrumental in the Cowgirls’ BIIF title in 2024-25, as it was the black and gold’s first island title since 1991. She led her team in overall scoring at 12.4 points per game and was second in the group in conference scoring. Soriano scored in double figures in 11 games this season and 20-or-more points twice, including a 23-point masterclass against Sacred Hearts in a Nov. 2024 non-conference matchup.
Soriano scored 18 points in the BIIF DII Championship against Pahoa on Jan. 19
Kohala coach Mana Pasco was named the DII Coach of the Year after leading the Cowgirls to a 10-2 league record and 18-5 overall. The black and gold averaged 55.2 points per game in the BIIF while allowing 25.7.
Soriano’s teammates — senior Kalia Marquez and Mahealani Pang — were also named to the DII First Team. Marquez led the Cowgirls in BIIF scoring at 12.7 points per game, and scored a season-high 23 points twice across the season. Pang averaged 6.9 points per game, and scored a season-high 17 points against Kea‘au on Jan. 9.
Kamehameha-Hawaii’s Kacie Feebo-Santiago was also selected to the DII First Team. Feebo-Santiago was the Lady Warriors’ leading scorer all season, averaging 13.8 points per game with a season high of 28 points against Hilo in Dec. 2024. The senior helped propel KSH to a 10-2 league record and 16-8 overall, including a state tournament appearance.
Pahoa’s Sophia Moniz was the only freshman selected to the DII First Team, as the young star averaged 16 points per game to lead the Lady Daggers in 2024-25. She scored 20-or-more points four times, including a 28-point performance against Kohala in Dec. 2024. Moniz helped Pahoa reach the state tournament.
Ka‘u’s Jazmyn Navarro rounded out the DII First Team, as the senior averaged 17.1 points per game in the BIIF and 15 points per game overall. Navarro scored a season-high 27 points against Hawaii Preparatory Academy on Jan. 18.
Making the DII Second Team were HPA’s Rosey Wawner, KSH’s Shailan Benevides, Kohala’s Ilima Napoleon and Pahoa’s Azariyah Brown and Jill Shipp.
Konawaena dominated the entire BIIF Division I First Team, as every selection was a Lady Wildcat. Point guard Kaylie Yamasaki was named the DI Player of the Year for her ability to push the pace and run the green and white’s offense. Yamasaki scored a season-high 15 points against Kea‘au on Jan. 27.
Local legend Bobby Awa was named DI Coach of the Year for leading Kona to a perfect 14-0 league record and 23-4 overall to go along with a BIIF DI title. The Lady Wildcats averaged 76.9 points per game in island play while allowing just 13.1. Kona beat Waiakea 102-11 in the BIIF DI Championship on Jan. 29, and advanced as a high seed to the state tournament. Kona lost in the state semifinals to Iolani.
Yamasaki’s teammates — senior Ki‘ilei Leleiwi, junior Aaadyn Kauhi, junior Mikela Salazar-Harrell, junior Haikela Hiraishi and freshman Shaileia Hookahi-Bannister — all made the first team. Each girl demonstrated strong skills of team basketball in the Lady Wildcats’ unbeaten season, as no Kona player averaged 12 points per game.
There was no second team for DI.
