Forecasters keeping eye on Tropical Storm Carlotta
Forecasters are keeping an eye on the newly developed Tropical Storm Carlotta.
The former Tropical Depression 3E, Carlotta was about 310 miles southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, on Wednesday. The storm is forecast to move westward toward Hawaii and develop into a hurricane.

Carlotta is, however, too far from Hawaii to assess whether the storm poses a threat to the islands.
As of Monday, Carlotta’s maximum sustained winds were clocked at 45 mph with higher gusts, and the storm is moving to the northwest at 12 mph.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from Carlotta’s center.
Additional strengthening is forecast over the next several days, and Carlotta is anticipated to become a hurricane on Friday.
