Police arrest 25 for DUI
During the week of June 10-16, Hawaii Island police arrested 25 motorists for DUI. Five of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. Two of the drivers were younger than 21.
The numbers of arrests by district were: Kona, 10; Hilo and Kona, six each; South Kohala, two; and Ka‘u, one.

So far this year, there have been 451 DUI arrests compared to 462 during the same period last year, a decrease of 2.4%.
There have been 453 major crashes so far this year, compared to 393 during the same time last year, an increase of 15.3%.
To date, there have been 18 official traffic fatalities (one pedestrian death was reclassified as a suicide), compared to nine fatalities for the same time last year, an increase of 100%.
DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide, police said.
