Police arrested 14 for DUI

During the week of Oct. 17-23, Hawaii Island police arrested 14 motorists for DUI. One of the drivers was involved in a traffic accident. None of the drivers were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 802 DUI arrests compared to 861 during the same period last year, a decrease of 6.9%.

To date, there have been 29 traffic fatalities compared to 21 fatalities for the same time last year, an increase of 38.1%.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue islandwide, police said.
