Police investigate bomb threat at Hawaii Community College

Police say officers responded at about 9:30 a.m. today to a telephone report of a bomb left within a classroom on the Hawaii Community College Manono Campus in Hilo.

A systematic search of the college found no unauthorized persons, devices or explosives on campus. Police also conducted a precautionary search at the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s Kawili Street campus, where no unauthorized persons, devices or explosives were found.

Hilo Criminal Investigation Section detectives have initiated a terroristic threatening investigation as a result of the threat.

Anyone with information about the threat is asked to call the police nonemergency line at (808) 935-3311.
